Nadira Murray

PRODUCER

Nadira Murray, a Scotland-based visionary producer and founder of Sylph Productions, was named Scotland’s Rising Star 2024 by Screen International Team. She is the recipient of the BAFTA Scotland Award (2023) and the BIFA Breakthrough Producer Award (2022). She also won the BFI & Chanel Filmmakers (Grant) Award for her audacious creative approach to storytelling, as recognised by jurors Tilda Swinton and Edward Enninful OBE.

Through her company Sylph Productions, Nadira’s mission is to bridge the East and West through cinematic storytelling, amplifying the voices and visions of first-generation immigrant talent in the UK and creating impactful, cross-cultural work. Her company achieved remarkable success with its debut feature film, WINNERS, directed by Hassan Nazer. Nadira enhanced the film’s visibility by bringing on producer Paul Welsh during the post-production stage and securing support from Screen Scotland.

WINNERS received widespread acclaim, including: The film is now streaming globally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV+, and BFI Player.

Nadira trained at Media Business School, 2014, supported by Creative Europe. She strengthened her craft through programs such as the Rotterdam Producer’s Lab, EURODOC Lab, and BIFA Springboard, NORDISK Panorama Producers’ programme, while regularly attending workshops, seminars, and film markets to stay updated about the industry.

Her short films she produced showcased at Oscar and BAFTA-qualifying festivals, with one produced by 20th Century Digital for Disney/Hulu’s Bite Size Halloween.

Nadira’s commitment to nurturing diverse talent and tackling socially resonant themes positions her as an original voice in contemporary cinema. Nadira’s approach focuses on helping filmmakers craft their stories inspired by real-life events, transforming them into audacious cinematic narratives with a unique artistic flair. 

Jon K. Jones

Development advisor specialising in pitch decks

Jon K. Jones is a UK-based writer and director from New York City with a unique talent for socially poignant storytelling via an authentic and imaginative lens for film, television, and creative writing.

In 2022, Jon partnered with 20th Century Digital to write and direct his science-fiction short Fracture, now streaming on Hulu. In 2021, he wrote and produced three episodes of CNN’s docuseries Jerusalem: City of Faith and Fury and in 2020, while completing a year-long internship on Saturday Night Live, Jon was the recipient of the Alfred P. Sloan Award as well as the San Francisco Film Festival Fellowship for his screenplay Let There Be Light about the life of African American inventor, Lewis H. Latimer.

Jon holds an MFA from Columbia University in film directing, a BA from Brooklyn College where he majored in both Screenwriting and Film History, and is currently completing an MA in Creative Writing at the prestigious University of Cambridge.

Elsa Marguerie

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

Elsa is a French junior producer and director who earned her Master’s Degree in Artistic Direction and Filmmaking at “Sup de Création” in France in 2023. During her studies, she also served as a junior Show Runner/Producer at Rebellion Communication Agency in Paris.

With a diverse range of professional, student, and personal projects, Elsa has successfully managed various types of productions, including commercials, short films, music videos, and social media content. Her current project ‘Sophie’s Pyro-Capillophobia,’ a comedy short she wrote, directed and produced is featured at the Nikon Film Festival in France.

Coming from a creative background, Elsa immerses herself in every stage of filmmaking. Her skills extend beyond creativity to excellent organisational, project management, artistic direction, and team management capabilities.

Elsa has recently joined Sylph Productions in Edinburgh, adding her assistance and expertise to our team and fueling her aspirations as a future producer.
